General FAQs

Yes. Just Say Something is a (501) (c) (3) non-profit organization that has applied for and been approved by the IRS for recognition as a tax-exempt organization.
Yes. As a (501) (c) (3) non-profit organization, Just Say Something is officially registered as a charity organization.
Due to a lack of non-profit funding, Just Say Something will accept a variety of donations. We would greatly appreciate any new winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for adults and children if there is a Holiday Coat Drive; any new and unused office supplies for day to day and special event operations; any new and unused art supplies, toys, and household items for incentives for a parenting program; and any new and unused high-end items that would make great auction items.

Just Say Something offers various opportunities for clerical support and assistance with community events and activities. If you would like to volunteer, call 864-467-4099 or send an email to info@justsaysomethingsc.org and someone will contact you with more information.

Parenting FAQs

How old are your children? Did DSS refer you to us? If so, you will need to ask your case worker which class DSS recommends you take.

To register for the Parenting Wisely, Back In Control, and TransParenting Enrichment Courses, click Programs / Parenting to click the name of the program for which you would like to register. Once on that page, arrow downwards and Click to Register to enter your information and your credit card number and click Submit to pay. It may seem like a lot of information but we need it for our records. Almost immediately you will receive an email confirmation and we will receive a notification to add you to the roster for the next class you requested.

Perhaps your supervisor would allow you to take 15 or 30 minutes off on the one night of the week that you have parenting class so you can get it done? Your case worker may be able to provide you with a letter stating they have mandated that you take the class or maybe we can provide you with a letter verifying you must be present in parenting class by 6:15PM or the door will be locked and you will be counted absent.
Just Say Something offers the following Parenting Enrichment Courses:

Parenting Wisely is held once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6-8 PM for five weeks for parents of children ages 0-8. The cost is $60.00 for one parent and $100.00 for a couple.

Back In Control is held once a week on Mondays evenings from 6-8 PM for six weeks for parents of children ages 9-17.  The cost is $70.00 for one parent and $120.00 for a couple.

Trans-Parenting is a 4-hour co-parenting class for step-parents; divorcing couples; parents and children who are going through a very stressful, family situation; and blended families.  It is held on Saturdays from 9AM - 1PM.  The cost is $50.00 for one parent and $90.00 for a couple. You must pay for this class before the class starts or you are not considered registered.

Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is held once a week from 6-8PM for fourteen weeks every four months for parents of children ages 6-11. This program is provided free to eligible families in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties.

Triple P is a one-on-one course which focuses on the specific problems or struggles a parent may be having with a child in order to provide some assistance. There is no set specific date for these classes but the facilitator will call you with more details and to set up an appointment. Currently, it is a free program but it may not remain so.

You may get another certificate for a $5.00 REPLACEMENT FEE if you provide us with your full name, the name of the parenting class, and the approximate date you took the class with us.

We advise you to talk to DSS. They may be able to provide you with some financial assistance. If not, we may have some scholarships available on a case-by-case basis, but you will have to speak with the Parenting Director when you begin your class.  That is the best time to talk about what it will take to qualify for a payment plan or a reduced fee.

No, we cannot bill DSS and we do not take Medicaid. If you have your case worker call us or send us a letter stating that DSS will cover the cost of your class, we will accept that with no problem.

Parents should attend the parenting class that DSS recommends they take according to their children’s and family’s needs. If you need help or meet certain criteria, the Parenting Director will speak with you when you begin your class.

If you want your boyfriend/mother/friend to attend class, you will have to pay the fee for couples.

Just Say Something does not provide childcare. Our office is not child friendly.

I’m sorry but too much time has passed. Yes, you will have to pay again.

If you have paid your parenting fees, the Parenting Director will provide you with such a letter.

If you miss a parenting class, you will have to wait until that particular session comes up in the next cycle in order to make it up.

No virtual parenting classes are scheduled at this time but we can add you to our waiting list.

You can bring a drink and a snack. If you bring food, we would appreciate it if you would try not to make a mess. We would also appreciate it if you would clean up afterwards and take your food trash with you or dispose of it in the trash can in our break room, near the restroom area. Thank you.

Parenting classes are held from 6PM-8PM. Parents are expected to arrive by 6:00PM. On the first night of class, we allow a little more time to arrive but, from then on, parents must be in class by 6PM. The door is locked at 6:15PM.

Youth Impact Sports FAQs

If your family resides in an apartment complex or homes owned by Reedy Property Group, your child is eligible to participate in this program. However, youth who reside in other areas of Greenville County may also participate but space is limited.

At this moment in time, there is no charge. However, it may change in the future.

The first step would be to contact Stacey Ashmore, Outreach Coordinator / Youth Impact Sports, at 864-467-4099 or stacey@justsaysomethingsc.org. YIS is all about education through sports and the positive impact on youth behavior, so Just Say Something requires that parents complete various permission forms.
